HOSA Students Lead Blood Care Drive On Campus

A+ Academy Secondary scholars involved in HOSA, a health science organization for future health professionals, held a blood drive on campus as part of their commitment to helping their local community hospitals. April Escalante, this year’s HOSA president, served as lead coordinator of this year’s blood drive. Other students who aided in the blood drive included student athletic trainers, who assisted in appointment setting, and on-site navigation of the donation process. A+ Academy Senior Receives Scholarship to the University of Texas of the Permian Basin

Early this morning, Ryan Cruz, A+ Academy Secondary Senior, and Varsity soccer player, signed his letter of intent to the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.     Cruz was offered an athletic scholarship by the University to play on the Men’s Soccer Team. He will be joining a talented roster of Falcons, lead by Head Coach, Dennis Peterson.                 Congratulations to Ryan Cruz, and his family!

Dr. John Price Receives the ‘Distinguished Educator of the Year’ Award from Dallas Theatre Center

Dr. John Price, English Educator and Theatre Director at A+ Academy Secondary, has been named this year’s ‘Distinguished Educator of the Year’ by the Dallas Theatre Center (and now a Tony-Award winning theatre). Dr. Price has been with A+ Academy since 2008, and is the sole founder of the State Championed Theatre Department at the high school. He holds a PhD in Humanities from the University of Texas at Dallas, is a published author, and recognized national presenter. Kappa Delta Chi Sorority at UNT Dallas Starts Mentoring Program and Scholarship Fund for IVSS Scholars

Robin Wheeler, educator at Inspired Vision Secondary School, reached out to the Kappa Delta Chi Sorority at UNT Dallas in hopes of beginning a mentoring partnership aimed at providing additional encouragement for the young ladies of the ‘BFF Club’ to pursue a higher education. The sorority not only agreed to provide the girls at IVSS with a mentoring program, they also decided to set up a scholarship fund to provide assistance and encouragement to their new mentees. “This wonderful group of college girls “adopted” our BFF Club girls to help mentor and inspire them…
